BELGIAN TOP GENES WELL PAID AT HORSEMAN ELITE AUCTION 2023

Aug 6, 2023

The 21st edition of the Horseman Elite Auction proved to be a success! Held at Azelhof in Lier, there was significant interest from both domestic and international buyers for the carefully selected collection of foals, broodmares, young horses, and embryos. The colt foal Armstrong Optimus (by Emerald van 't Ruytershof) fetched the top price of €40,000.

At the auction live and online, there was substantial interest in the collection, which can be described as ‘The best of Belgium’. Horses, embryos, and foals were sold to online buyers from countries such as Mexico, Slovenia, Italy, and Poland. The nice percentage of successful sales during this live auction was also a positive outcome. Only a few lots were not sold.

Good prices
The auction was opened with a frozen embryo sired by Baloubet du Rouet for charity, with the proceeds going to the Centre for the Prevention of Suicide VZW. With €4,400, Jan Vermeiren of JV Horses showed his good heart! An interesting mix of broodmares, top-class showjumping foals, young horses, and embryos followed. The foals fetched an average of €15,000, with standout prices achieved by the colt foal Armstrong Optimus (by Emerald van 't Ruytershof, €40,000) and the filly Aurélie (by Diarado, €36,000). The broodmares achieved an average price of nearly €25,000, with the highest-priced broodmare being Jess-Bell van 't Roosakker, an Ogano Sitte daughter, who remained in Belgian hands. The gathering of predominantly Belgian breeders and domestic and international customers in a full and nicely decorated Azelhof, ensured a successful and enjoyable edition of the Horseman Elite Auction 2023, which makes look forward to the next one!
